Help Shape the Future of Head Start & Early Head Start
At Head Start and Early Head Start, parents are our most important partners. Every family has valuable ideas, experiences, and perspectives that help us create the best possible program for children.
Whether you want to meet other families, learn more about your child's education, or help make important program decisions, there is a place for you!

Parent Committee
Every Parent Can Participate
Parent Committee meetings are open to all parents and guardians of currently enrolled Head Start and Early Head Start children.
These meetings provide opportunities to:
-
Connect with other families
-
Learn about child development and family resources
-
Share ideas for family activities and events
-
Help plan center activities
-
Support your child's learning
-
Develop leadership skills
-
Stay informed about your program
Parent Committees also elect leaders who help organize meetings and share information with other families throughout the year.
Policy Council
Parents Helping Make Program Decisions
The Policy Council is a leadership group made up primarily of parents of currently enrolled children, along with community representatives.
Policy Council members work together to:
-
Represent families across the program
-
Review and provide input on important program decisions
-
Help improve services for children and families
-
Participate in planning for the future of Head Start
-
Share ideas and concerns from Parent Committees
-
Encourage family involvement throughout the program
Serving on the Policy Council is a wonderful opportunity to develop leadership skills while making a positive impact for all Head Start families.
